Job Description:-

Process Control Engineer

This position is responsible for helping to sustain and enhance process control applications and assets, and provide expertise to support the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operations of our world scale ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, energy systems, and environmental operations plants at the site.

 Key Accountabilities

  • Identify, develop, and implement control systems, strategies, applications, hardware, operating discipline, and projects to maintain and improve performance of operating plants
  • Lead technical execution of process control projects, including design, installation, configuration, coding, testing, commissioning, and start-up
  • Solve complex operational problems and/or develop complex design solutions
  • Provide day to day troubleshooting and support for process control hardware, software, applications, and related systems and networks
  • Evaluate and implement safety instrumented systems
  • Maintain and improve process control and process information operating discipline
  • Coordinate daily support, maintenance, and spare parts strategy
  • Sustain and enhance overall process control systems health and performance
  • Provides technical coaching to maintenance and operations personnel
  • Assist in development of long-term lifecycle planning
  • Monitor and enhances control performance and loop tuning

 Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in an operating plant environment
  • Expertise and understanding of distributed control system (DCS) architecture
  • Demonstrated skills in configuring, documenting and troubleshooting DCS or PLC systems (Honeywell DCS and Triconex SIS systems in virtualized environment preferred)
  • Process control network troubleshooting experience would be an asset
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams and interact with all levels of the organization
  • Commitment to EH&S
  • Self-motivation and high initiative

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required, Chemical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Process Control experience and experience in an operating plant environment is an asset
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologist of Alberta (APEGA)
